Chime In and Help a Frustrated Artist

The witty and talented Megan Frampton (no relation to Peter…she claims) mentioned her opinion of the sexiest song the other day (amidst several other items).

That got me to thinking. It’s about time I made a new mix on my Rhapsody playlist, and I’d like to make one of se-exxy songs because I’m getting ready to start a new project. I need to be in the mood, you see.

So, name one I should put on there. Just one. C’mon, you can do it!

I’ve already got “Use Me” by Bill Withers, courtesy of Megan. And my favorite sexy song, “Everybody Here Wants You” by the late great Jeff B.

So what else do I need on there if I want to get in the mood?

I don’t know of any particular song that I think of as sexy. Generally, if I want to get “in the mood”, some good old jazz (preferably Miles Davis) will get me there. For a romantic mood, I stick to other jazz (Billie Holiday) or some Rat Pack action (Frank and Dean).

But I also listen to songs with titles like “I’m in Love with a Stripper” by T Pain. So I don’t think I’m really any help….

  2. Annie says:

Oh, and since Megan doesn’t allow commenters if you’re not a blogspot member, you can relay to her that those toothpicks she mentions in #1 are merely called frill picks.

  3. Zeek says:

Enigma has some sexy ones, but in a darker kinda way. “Sadeness, Pt. 1″.

Ok you said one but here’s another … “At last” by etta james

  4. Caryle says:

I’m quite fond of “Let Me Fall” by Josh Groban.

“Here With Me” by Dido is good as well, if you’re looking for a dreamlike quality.

  5. MaryF says:

I love “Black” by Pearl Jam and “One” by U2.

  6. December Quinn says:

I have “Use Me” on my iPod, too! I love Bill Withers.

    Just one sexy song?

Nine Inch Nails’ cover of “Get Down Make Love”. It’s not romantic sexy. It’s just freakin hot. They have it on iTunes but it was originally eleased on an EP that’s hard to find now.

  7. Colleen Gleason says:

Okay,I just went and created my new playlist. Can’t wait to play it for the Music Man! What a nice eclectic mix.

    Any others??

  8. Trish Milburn says:

I’ve always thought Wicked Game by Chris Issak was a very sexy song.

  9. Jaye Wells says:

    Darn it, Trish stole mine.

Hmm. How about Justify My Love by Madonna?

  10. Colleen Gleason says:

Ooh, yes, Trish, I love Wicked Game. *adds it to playlist* Chris Isaak is one of the most under-appreciated musicians out there. He’s got a great voice.

And Justify My Love…not one of my favorite Madonna songs, but sounds like I need to re-listen to it, Jaye, if you’re nominating it for #1 Sexy Song.

  11. Mailyn says:

Closer by Nine Inch Nails. Never fails!

  12. Janet says:

Whole Lotta Love by Led Zeppelin :-)

  13. Kristen Painter says:

The sexiest song hands down is Paula Cole’s Feelin’ Love (City of Angels soundtrack). Look it up, seriously.

  14. Megan Frampton says:

    Colleen:

Hey, thanks for the shout-out! I didn’t see this until I escaped dial-up hell. I know they are sometimes called frill picks, too, but I think (although now it’s sort of a holy quest) that there is a more specific word.

Anyway. Zero 7’s whole record is a nookie-fest. Very, very sexy.

And thanks for trying Bill Withers! I think he’s got a meanly sexy song in “Use Me.” I like Mr. Buckley, too.
