Since I don't live (or regularly travel) anywhere exciting, like NYC, LA, London, or Vancouver, I just don't get the chance to have any brushes with famous people (unless I'm at a concert, sitting umpteen rows away….)(or sighting Nora Roberts from across the bar at RWA's National conference).
But Kristina Cook, with whom I moonlight blog at Muse/News/Loose Screws (and who is the author of some fabulous and fun historical romances), lives in NYC and she's always rubbing elbows with people. Famous people.
Like Colin Firth.
And Colin Farrell.
Usually when she's on her way to the rest room. (Hmmm….)
She's posted a scan of the autograph she got from the gush-worthy Colin Firth over at Muse/News yesterday…go take a gander and see those little XXs he put there for her.
In the meantime, I'll share my pitifully unexciting, single, brush with fame.
When my Music Man and I lived in Philly, he owned a grand piano that he rented out for things like weddings and jazz festivals, and for concerts, etc. Once, and this would have been in the early '90s, when they were big, Wilson Phillips came to town and they rented the piano.
Music Man had it delivered to this small recording studio where they were practicing for an appearance at some parade or outside concert, and I came with him. We sat in on a little rehearsal in this miniscule recording studio, just us and an un-made-up and coiffed Wilson Phillips.
They sounded good, and to this day, one song on the radio that will stop me is "Hold On," which is the one they were rehearsing.
Anyway, I know that's not that exciting, and I know others have much more interesting brushes with fame…so let me hear them! I need some excitement on this Monday moanin'.
And…if any of you brushed with Gerard Butler, Johnny Depp, Sting, or Bono….make sure to give every little detail. Please.

The second installment of the Gardella Vampire Chronicles takes Victoria to Venice and Rome.

As I’ve been to quite a few geeky conventions, I’ve met quite a few fun celebs that I otherwise wouldn’t have.
The cute ones that flirt have been my favorites
Those would be: John Wesley Shipp, Dirk Benedict, Richard Hatch, Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge, etc..
I’ve also had many celeb sightings in my trips to LA.

I’ve met a couple celebs because of where I grew up and went to school, but I don’t have any good stories. My brother also met several celebs while in the Navy, but most of his sotries are really negative as well — except for Cuba Gooding Jr. who he says is one of the coolest, nicest, down to earth guys he’s ever met.

No Depp stories…but I did meet Sean Astin and James Taylor, separately. Both were really, really nice

One of my best friends lives in NYC and he is frequently seeing or conversing with ‘celebs’. He works in the theatre (writing, producing, directing) and so any brushes with fame I’ve had have always had to do with theatrical things. I’ve been backstage at Kiss Me Kate and other Broadway shows and met the stars of those shows that my friend knows. My claim to fame is that while waiting to visit after Kiss Me Kate we were able to go backstage to see that starring actress before Jason Alexander (George from Seinfeld) and were standing right next to him while we waited. I’ve also been backstage twice to visit with Tori Amos with this same friend because of donations he has made to RAINN. She’s an amazingly sweet, attentive individual.

Hmmm, guess it depends on who you count as a celebrity
I went to school with Stephen Yzerman of the Detroit Red Wings (he actually HATED being called Steve or Stevie - ironic). And in 1983 I shook hands with the Prince of Wales when he visited Ottawa.
