Monday, Monday

Feelin' the slog on this Monday morning. It's that good old "there is no free lunch" admonishment. Back in October, I was delighted when I got the one thing money can't buy–time! A whole extra hour!–but yesterday, we had to give it back. Dang it.

(I am going to make my Music Man take me out for a big breakfast this morning though. That might make me feel better.)

Anyway, mega-thanks to Diana for doing the research that sets my Catholic guilt-complex at ease, in regards to the use of handicapped bathroom stalls. Whew.

Plus, she makes a good point about the fact that most often, the changing tables are in the larger stall.  So I can use those larger stalls with a clear conscience.

I didn't see 300 this weekend–did anyone else? I know Diane Gaston (who has a new lovely book out this month, Innocence and Impropriety–is that not a great title for a Regency-set romance?) did and she thought it was fabulous. And not just Gerard Butler's nice pecs, either (although I'm certain that was the initial draw).

ETA: And I just got word that the delightful Ms. Gaston herself is going to come by tomorrow and offer not only her gushing feedback on His Hotness Mr. Butler's performance in 300, but also a chance to win a copy of Innocence and Impropriety! W00T!

And, O Happy Day! All of the Girl Scout cookies are now gone from my house (except half a box of Thin Mints). The weeks of gluttony are over!

(And since I don't like Thin Mints, they're no temptation whatsoever.)

I like the new Lemonades, and I also like Peanut Butter Patties–I have since I sold them myself. What's your favorite Girl Scout cookie?

We don’t get that many varieties of Girl Guide cookies when I see kids out selling them… no fair! :P I think we have the choice of vanilla or chocolate in the summer and mint in the winter. That could have changed, though, not really a cookie eater personally.

ooo me! I saw 300! (I have to get my review up!) Anyway It sure was poetry in motion- I was a tad disappointed they didn’t focus on plotting a bit more, but not enough to detract from the movie.

    Damn those Spartans looked delicious!

Don’t let Jill Shalvis know you have thin mints … those are her favorites. I used the love the peanut butter patties, but I don’t have a girl scout to buy them from now.

Just popped over from Jill’s to say “Hi”

I saw 300 on opening night and it is a truly visceral feast, just as I expected it to be. The visuals were superb, and yes, it’s violent and somewhat bloody. It’s all stylized violence, however, which, in my humble opinion, perfectly fits any Greek tale. Mr. Butler took a page from the actors of old and tried not to give a modern nuanced performance (i.e., Brad Pitt in the dismal Troy), but instead just embodied the Spartan king, made him flesh and blood and an imposing figure on screen in every way imaginable. This is one guy (and his Spartan buddies) you DO NOT want to cross. Ever.

Samoas rock. But i also (unfortunately) love thin mints and the ones that taste like Nutter Butters. Ok, great, now I’m drooling.

  9. Lindsey says:

Up here in Canada, we only have three varieties of Girl Guide cookies, and we sell them twice a year: chocolate mint (fall), and chocolate or vanilla sandwich (spring). I like the chocolate sandwich ones best. I’d like to try some of the different ones in the States - I think it’s neat that you have so many other kinds there.

I’m a Brownie leader, so l will soon have a case of cookies at my house. Which I will then eat……good thing I finished up the boxes from the fall!

Of course you already know that I saw, and loved, 300. Fantastic film. It made a fortune this weekend which I’m quite happy about.
