Geek Crushin’ on Monday

Okay, so I went and saw Blades of Glory with the Music Man last Friday. It was pretty much what I'd expected–ridiculous, outrageous, vulgar humor with the backdrop of a figure skating competition. Lots of laughs, a few groans, a plot thinner than ice in May, tons of fun poked at the figure skating world.

Nancy Kerrigan, Dorothy Hamill, and Brian Boitano made cameo appearances, along with Luke Wilson, who I think is looking a little rough around the edges nowadays. I really liked him in Legally Blonde, but now…meh.

Will Ferrell was Will Ferrell, though not as loud and frenetic as he usually is. But definitely coarse and vulgar, until the end when he turns out to have the requisite heart of gold.

And then there's John Heder (how do you say it? Hedder? Heeder?). I saw him in Napoleon Dynamite and was okay with him. But now, after Blades of Glory, I have a big ol' geek crush on him. He was adorable. Absolutely adorable. I just wanted to take him home and cuddle him, chipmunk teeth and all.

I mean, look at him! Cuteness. Major ingenuous cuteness.

So…did anyone else see it?

What about Meet the Robinsons? Anyone?

Saw Meet the Robinsons yesterday and I enjoyed the previews to Shrek 3 more. However, my kidlets all really enjoyed Robinsons and I did like the overall theme of the movie.

  2. AnneD says:

Hubby and I dropped kiddo off at Kids by the Hour and nipped next door to see this also. I laughed and laughed - after all that was the whole point of the movie.

I’m a sucker for movies so bad, they are good :) though I must be the only person alive to have not seen Napoleon Dynamite?

Kiddo’s birthday is next weekend, so The last Mimzy, TNMT, and Meet the Robinsons is next weekends viewing.

  3. Sparky Duck says:

the geek crush is the Hardy Boys fault!

  4. Colleen says:

Wendy, I’m bummed to hear that. I was hoping Robinsons would be worth seeing.

AnneD, my son has alraedy seen TMNT, but I wanted to take the kiddos to see Mimzy. I hear it’s better than it looks.

Sparky, Sparky, Sparky….Don’t blame the Hardys for everything!

  5. katkat says:

  6. cosmic kid says:

Mmmm, I have to say I’m not digging Heder. I think it’s something about his teeth.

  7. Katie says:

I haven’t been to the movies in awhile now. But I do want to see this one. And I think Heder is cute… in a geek way.

  8. Carey says:

If you enjoyed Blades wth Hedder, then you should also check out School for Scoundrels with him and Billy Bob Thortn, I was pleasantly suprised at the movie and laughed alot. You can also see him in Just Like Heaven with Reese Witherspoon. He is the book store guy.

He definately has the geek crush quality about him.

Thanks for the great blogg, I love visiting and am looking forward to getting “The Rest Falls Away” on my next bookstore trip.
