I'm sure I'll be eating these words by the end of the summer, but for right now, I just can't do it.
Can't do the retro-'70s wedge sandals, complete with burlap, straw, or cork heels. Especially the ones that tie up your leg. Ugh.
They're everywhere and I just can't stomach them.
How 'bout you?
(And for the guys out there…you can tell us what you think too. Are they sexy or not? Do you even notice them?)

I wasn’t exactly enamored of this style of shoes the first time around. Even if I was now, I wouldn’t dare wear them. I’d break my neck. *g*

I bought a pair because I HAD to have a pair of Sunday shoes. I’m not 100% thrilled with them, but they work. But I like heels, and can only where larger ones because of week ankles.

Back in the 1970s, my aunt (who I thought was the most beautiful and glamorous woman in the world) had a pair of these shoes. I begged her to let me try them on. (I was, perhaps, 5 years old.)
She let me, and I fell down because they were hard to walk in!
I wore some crazy shoes back in the day (I have a pair of goth-y patent leather platforms with a 5-inch heel and 3-inch platforms), but foot problems have forced me into more sensible footwear. I still won’t wear flats, but the trendy platform shoes tend to have lousy arch support, and I end up with ankle and knee pain. It’s just not worth it any more!
I cringe when I think about what an old fart I’ve become when it comes to footwear, and I’m only in my 30s.

Don’t like them so much, I tend to go for the more elegant ones…

Nope, not cool enough for me (I’m wearing my Vans today!) — but what’s even scarier was that #2 just picked up a pair at Old Navy and asked me to buy them for her! Hello? She’s FOUR.
Man, it sure does start early…

Oh no. Crocs or Clarks for me, please.

I think the shoes look pretty cool, but would be the first to admit that I really don’t notice shoes, unless they are ridiculous clown shoes or something like that.

I think my puppy would have them chewed up in about 15 minutes.
And I definitely wouldn’t buy them anyway. They look too Peg from Married With Children for me.

The moment my mom said that she once had shoes like that it killed and desire to own a pair. Plus I would fall off and hurt myself.

I keep remembering what happened to Sandy last year - she broke her foot, remember? Forget it.
And yes, my mom had some back in the day, too.

I love love love the ones with the cork heel! I don’t like the tie ones, either

Oooooh, must have those zebra stripes ones…..
April 23rd, 2007 at 6:32 pm
I love them, although I don’t think I’d buy any that tie up the leg.

I like the wedge shoes, but not too fond of the straps up the ankle. I’ll be happy when all those pointy shoes go away. lol

Jana, you can have the zebra stripes.
I’m glad I’m not the only one not into these wedge shoes. But who knows…by the end of the summer, I may have fallen into the trend (and fallen on my @ss, more likely!).

I can’t stand the way they half-hang off your heel as you walk. I have enough trouble keeping from falling on my face without adding talent-only shoes into the mix!
