Fan Art

This is so cool. One of my readers, Andi, who lives in Belgium, sent me an email awhile ago telling me how much she enjoyed The Rest Falls Away. She's also an illustrator (she works on children's books) and she told me she was drawing some pictures of the characters in The Gardella Vampire Chronicles. I was so excited! It's really fun to see how other people picture the characters.

(In fact, I was talking with some friends of mine the other day, one of whom had a really squicky feeling about Sebastian. She told me she pictured him as a dark-haired, pale, greasy kind of guy. I was very surprised, considering how he's described when we first meet him: "….a handsome man who immediately struck her as being an intriguing mixture of gold and bronze…" But…that's what's so fun about this! Everyone has their own image of the characters.)

Anyway, last week Andi emailed her drawings to me and she said I could share them! So here they are…she's still working on Sebastian. (But I bet he won't be dark-haired and greasy looking.)

Victoria, of course

 Max…

And Philip, the Marquess of Rockley…whom Andi calls "a lovely character." I wholeheartedly agree.

Wow, these are gorgeous. I love the color, and the detail. I love how vividly the characters came across. Fabulous work, Andi.

These are, indeed, excellent, and really bring the characters to life! Now, when’s the movie coming out? lol!

  3. Tori Lennox says:

Wow! The artwork is gorgeous!!! Max looks even sexier than I thought he was!

By the way, I started re-reading The Rest Falls Away last night. Gotta gear up for the next book. :)

Wow indeed! These are awesome pictures. What a wonderful thing to send you. :)

  8. An says:

Oooh, your friend is absolutely right, Colleen! I share her feelings a bit… Sebastian has warning signs all over him. Although I don’t see him as the ugly-yuk kind of guy, I do see him as the sneeky, not-to-be-trusted guy… (And yeah, he’s on his way to you ;-) )

And ehm, thanks everyone, I’m glad you like the illustrations ( *blushing all over my face*),

Beautiful illustrations! Your illustration of Max matches perfectly with what I have envisioned and Victoria looks slightly wild and tough as nails just like I pictured.

I definitely think Sebastian should not be trusted too! He doesn’t play fair! ;)

These are awesome. I really admire people with artistic talent. And how cool that your characters have been given visual form.

  11. Beth says:

Unbelievably gorgeous! So much talent and she captured the characters beautifully. Would be interesting to see something like this intertwined within the book.

  12. Kailana says:

    Wonderful pictures :)

Your fan has some definite talent. They are not quite what I pictured, but maybe because I haven’t allowed myself to bring them into sharp focus.

Although, the other day when you posted that picture of who you thought should play Max in the movie version, I instantly recognized him.

  14. Quixotic says:

I see Sebastian as being kind of attractive in a Spike/James Marsters sort of way. If that makes sense.

Great artwork - love the one of Victoria!

  15. nancy says:

This is so cool. You have the greatest perks for your job.

I like them all but Maz is my favorite. And, Phillip is right on.

  16. Nanda says:

Loved their outfits! Max is the best. You have a very talented fan with an eye for details.

Haha, I already have my ideal cast to play Max, Philip and of course, Victoria (i can’t find a Sebastian). I know I will end up disappointed with a movie version, since it won’t be the cast I want (:P) and they always change everything they can for no reason.
