Yesterday was hot and humid–but 85 degrees here in Michigan in May isn't unusual, nor is the fact that it's only 50 degrees today. Love Michigan weather.
But today…rainy and cloudy and cold (got my socks back on, a sweater, and sweats)…is a perfect day to be curled up reading somewhere. Like bed. (I'm not in bed, I'm sitting in my office. Just FYI. But that doesn't mean I won't find myself there again…soon.)
I started my re-read of the Harry Potter books last night. As many of you know (as I've mentioned it many times), I haven't read The Half-Blood Prince yet. I chose to wait until Book Seven (Deathly Hallows) was released, and so now I'm re-starting my journey with the students at Hogwarts.
Having read all of the other books only once, and throughout the years, it's fun to go back to The Sorcerer's Stone and meet everyone again. I'm also paying close attention to names and hints and such, because I know Rowling has had everything planned out from the beginning (unlike some other authors I know who write series and who shall remain nameless *cough*me*cough*), and so she's got to have hints and clues sprinkled throughout.
I'm really enjoying it, moreso than the first time, because of course, I know what's going to happen…so I'm reading for all the details that I might have missed before.
I also just finished reading the first two books in a new trilogy (third one is out in two weeks and I can't wait for it) by Robyn Carr. It's the Virgin River trilogy, and the first one is called Virgin River. Not only do the books have fantastic covers (which is why I picked them up in the first place), but they're really wonderful reads.
I devoured the first one, went back to Amazon to hunt up some of Carr's backlist while I was waiting for Shelter Mountain, and then glommed them quickly as I could. (Better hurry…they're starting to get pricey, those backlist books.)
Anyway, if you want a great story about a small town in northern California, revolving around a midwife who comes from the big city, and a nice solid love story–plus a lot of interesting characters…check out Virgin River. It's wonderful.
So…what is everyone else reading on this Dreary Wednesday?

ohhhhhhhh…you haven’t read Half Blood Prince! Boy are you … um … never mind! Can’t wait to talk to you when you’re done!

I’m reading The Complete Fairy Tales of Oscar Wilde today for Carl’s Once Upon a Time reading challenge. It’s perfect for this rainy Wednesday.

I’m working on my Harry Potter re-read too, I’m on book 5. Because one book at a time isn’t enough, I’m also working on The Westing Game, Italy in Mind (I think that’s the title anyway), a Kim Harrison (the name of which I’m blanking on) and a so-so memoir. I just finished The Book Thief, and if you haven’t read it yet you should. I have TONS of great looking stuff in the TBR, including yours!

I am wishing I was home reading and not working. I am reading The Camel Bookmobile. Not sure how I feel about it yet. But, just finished Finn and have to write a review of that. I am not raving, like everyone else, about this book.

I’m reading “Plum Lovin’” by Janet Evanovich. I’m enjoying it so far too bad no Ranger in it!

It’s dreary in Toronto, too! I’ve been trying to finish up my first book for the non-fiction challenge titled “Lust in Translation”, it was such a good and fun read. Can you believe I have never read a Harry Potter book? Shame on me!

Janet, I haven’t read HBP, but unfortunately, I basically know what happens. But I want to read it for myself…although I already know where my heart lies.
Chris, I didn’t know about Oscar Wilde’s fairy tales! Love the idea. I have always enjoyed reading the real Grimm’s Fairy Tales. They’re so….grim.
Lisa, I really enjoy Kim Harrison! I haven’t read her latest few, but I understand that latest one has a surprise unhappy ending. Love when authors take risks!
Nancy…I haven’t heard of Finn. Better check it out so I know what everyone’s talking about.
Terri…I love Janet E! But I’m a Morelli girl.
Lotus…You really should jump in and read HP. If nothing else, Rowling’s details are wonderful. I always enjoy the details like the class names, textbook titles and authors, and all the characters. She really is an imaginative writer.

I won;t start my Potter re-read until next month…can’t wait!

Here I am late again!!! Sorry, computer crashed, internet was sucking! Ok
Oh, you haven’t read HBP yet, but you know what’s gonna happen, which means, spoilers. I haate spilers. I always hate HP books when they are first published, hehe, because people here always tell everything!¬¬
I wish you had read, though
I have a theory in my LJ about… Well, “the most intriguing character on the book” (I believe in his innocence) but it’s a bad idea if you read it before finishing HBP. I’d love your opinion when you have the time :o) Or anyone who want to contribute is also welcome. I don’t know if I could post the URL here^^;
Anyway, sometime I would love to know where your heart lies
You’re a writer, who would know better!

Lol, just to correct, I wrote “I always hate HP books when they are first published”, I meant I always READ HP books when they are first published! LOL.

Robyn came to our chapter meeting. The books sound a lot like Men in Trees - are they?
