Lots of my other blogger friends are doing their annual end-of-year list of favorite reads. I thought it would be fun to join in, though I haven't been as organized as, say, Chris has been with keeping track of what I've read and actually finished. So this is off the top of my head, but here goes:
Twelve of my favorite (new) reads from 2007:
1. The Virgin River series by Robyn Carr. My favorite new author of 2007!
2. The House on Olive Street by Robyn Carr (one of her backlist titles only available used).
3. Shadow Touch by Marjorie M. Liu. This was my first Liu book, and I've really fallen for her voice and the world in her Dirk & Steele books.
4. Beneath a Marble Sky by John Shors. I think the Taj Mahal is the most perfect, gorgeous building in the world…and this is a fictionalized account of the building of this architectural wonder.
5. Birthright by Nora Roberts. It's an older book, but I just read it this year and loved it. I think it's one of my favorites of hers!
6. Ammie, Come Home by Barbara Michaels. One of the few Michaels books I'd never read until this year.
7. The Half-Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows by You Know Who.
8. The Unsung Hero and The Defiant Hero by Suzanne Brockmann. I haven't read any other Brockmanns except for one of her older Silhouette Romances, so she's new to me. Am loving her!
9. The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas (unabridged).
10. Face of Deception by Iris Johansen
11. Courting Trouble by Lisa Scottoline
12. Greywalker by Kat Richardson
How about you? Some of your favorite reads of the year? Post in the comments, or link to your own blog!

I did a HORRIBLE job of keeping up with what I read this year! I did however pick up my first Scottoline and I’m looking forward to more

The Raven Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt (I need to finish this series), The Twilight Series by Stephenie Meyer, and I’m in the middle of the Virgin River series now (Love it!).

Other than your books, I really enjoyed JR Ward’s books, Jacki Franks’ Nightwalker series, and a whole bunch more that I have upstairs in my room.

Well, present company excluded, the three books that stick out for me are: CL Wilson’s LORD OF THE FADING LANDS, UNTOUCHED by Anna Campbell and as Dev says, Stephanie Meyer’s TWILIGHT series, which I thought was wonderfully written.
I just finished a Jan. 2nd release THE SPYMASTER’S LADY by Joanna Bourne. It’s superb. I can’t remember the last time I was so blown away by an author’s voice. Her mastery of dialect is what’s so impressive about this book.

Steve Martin’s Autobiography “Born Standing Up” is extremely good so far. I’ve really liked all of his novellas, so I was excited to hear him write about his stand up comedy career.
Oh, and I’d probably be forcibly removed from the music genre I am in if I didn’t say Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, but I figure that’s obvious.

Oh, yeah. Love the Count. That’s one of my all-time favorites. I’ve probably told you that.
Colleen, would you please email me at bookfoolery at yahoo dot com? TIA. And, Happy New Year!!!

Well, I read the Gardella books, of course! And Colette Gale’s UNMASQUED. I think I read around 15 or so novels which had to do with Richard III and/or the medieval time period. I read HOOD and am now reading SCARLET (by Stephen Lawhead). One Nora Roberts — my very first one, believe it or not. THE ETERNAL ROSE by Gail Dayton (the 3rd in a trilogy — adored all three). Diana Gabaldon’s LORD JOHN AND THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE BLADE. Several of the HIGHLANDER books by Karen Marie Moning. There’s probably more but those are off the top of my head.

Wow, that cover for Beneath a Marble Sky is gorgeous! I’m glad you enjoyed Greywalker. I did as well and feel bad that I haven’t gotten to the sequel yet. I hope you and yours are having a wonderful New Year’s Day, Colleen!

It’s now after the new year but I just began reading your books! I found your blog and saw that you began reading Suzanne Brockmann in 2007 too! I breezed through the SEAL 16/Troubleshooter series. Loved it. Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series, JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series and Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series were my favorites from last year. And of course HP and the Deathly Hallows was at the top of my ‘07 list.

Thanks to MaryKate for mentioning The Spymaster’s Lady; I picked it up based on her recommendation on this thread, and was thoroughly entertained (she’s right about the dialect, well-done and adds to the story’s charm).
Some of my favorites for the past year (2007) include the gardella series (love it); Suzanne Brockmann (a favorite of mine, and a good one to start w/ is the troubleshooters Over the Edge, featuring Senior Chief Stanley Wolchonok, and also includes some well-threshed out secondary story lines); and for light contemporary romance I enjoyed Kristan Higgins’ Catch of the Day -and- Fools Rush In.
An author that reminds a bit of you (colleen) is Linnea Sinclair in that she seems to straddle two definable genres - in her case it’s science fantasy and romance; and like you, I think those who are not necessarily keen on romances would still like her books. An Accidental Goddess is a favorite of mine.
