Ringtone Fest

I've been shopping for new ringtones for my phone.

When people call me, I currently hear:

The Pink Panther Theme ~ home/kids

Brave Sir Robin (from Monty Python & the Holy Grail) ~ my Music Man (heh. I usually then answer the phone, "Hello Sir Robin!")

James Bond Theme song ~ my agent (you know–she's my "secret agent")

Brown Eyed Girl ~ my girlfriends

The Time Warp ~ everyone else

So, I'm shopping for something new.

I found the theme song from Veronica Mars, which I've since set as my default ringtone, but it's too short. It's just the "we used to be friends/a long time ago" part, over and over. (I wanted the part where it says, "Come on little sugar, bring it on, bring it on yeah…")

I really wanted the Buffy theme song too, but I can't find it at a legitimate ringtone place, and the Sex and the City theme too (for my girlfriends, of course). I also wanted Little Miss Can't Be Wrong by the Spin Doctors, but can't find that either. Sigh.

I heard about someone who had "God Save the Queen" for their mother's ringtone. *snort* Love it.

So, what do you have? Where do you get your ringtones that is legit?? Have you head of any good ones?

  2. Janet says:

    This is mine:

Captain Jack Sparrow: Just how many souls do you think my soul is worth?
Davy Jones: One hundred souls…three days
Jack: you’re a darlin mate, send me back the boy, we’ll get started right off…arrrrr
Jones: i keep the boy, a good faith payment. That leaves you on 99 more to go…haha

My favorite was with my old phone for our eldest - “Carry On my Wayward Son”. Very apt for him.

It is a lot of work coming up with what ringtones work. I can’t wait to get back to the States to build my ringtone collection up again. :)

  4. Jenny Ryan says:

Oh, Veronica Mars, how I miss you :( And I can’t even get into just how much I miss Logan…

  5. ren says:

dizzee rascal singing “happy talky talky happy talk” for by BFF, doctor who theme for my geeky friend, rufus wainwright singing “my phone’s on vibrate for you” for my husband, twisted sister’s “i wanna rock” for my rockin’ friend and django reinhardt’s “minor swing” for everyone else. oh and few sounds bites that correspond to specific people.

i make my own on itune and send them to my phone via the internet. that’s legit if i own the music…isn’t it?

My basic ringtone is “TNT” by AC DC(I was looking through old blogs the other day and noticed that you really liked the Back in Black album Colleen - I really want to download “You Shook Me All Night Long” - my favorite, but I need to find it somewhere legit, too!) When home calls it’s “Coming Home” by Alterbridge and when the hubby calls from his cell it’s “Sorry” by Buckcherry. I’ll have to check into doing it on Itunes - the kids have tons of music on there and would like to have some, too.

  7. Kaitlin says:

Electric Youth by Debbie Gibson for an ex friend…should just delete it.

    Apologize by Timbaland & whatshisface

The Way I Are by Timbaland & Keri Hilson

Ain’t No Other Man for my ex-boyfriend….need to delete that one too. :)

I’m Too Sexy by Right Said Fred for one of my best friends. :D

Cemetary Gates by Pantera for another friend

    This Ain’t a Scene by…crap, why can’t I think of the group? I’m brainfarting.

I’d love to get the full songs for different people, but my phone is thru a specific company & their ringtones bite a big fat one. Have no idea how to transfer songs to my phone even if I could. *sigh*

  8. The Cosmic Kid says:

The only ringtone I have is Mr. Blue Sky by ELO. I love it so much. Buuut, of course, good little stage manager I am, my phone is ALWAYS on vibrate so I never get to hear it!

  9. Deneishia says:

My generic ring tone is Black Magic Woman. my best friend’s tone is Harry Potter theme. My consort’s tone (he’s 40 I just can’t say boyfriend LOL) is Darth Vader’s theme (he chose it I so didn’t) my roommate’s theme is Fish Heads (yay Doctor Demento)

Just thought I would share something that I found out my kids have been doing. They use the multi media center on their phone to record clips from their favorite songs and then make them into ringtones. It isn’t quite as crisp or clear as when you download, but if you can’t find your favorite anywhere else…I guess it’s better than nothing! :)

Thanks to Ren, I’ve got a whole slew of new homemade ringtones! I’m so excited.

The only one I resisted doing was a special one for my MIL. A certain song by Elton John, in which “The SOMEONE is Back”. Yanno? Not that she is, at all…it’s just funny because of the stereotype of MILs.

Like half of the women on this planet, I became enthralled by the movie “The Phantom Of The Opera” As a result, I have the theme song as my ringtone. I should probably make the effort to update. The theme from “Veronica Mars” is an excellent choice. I always thought it was a perfect match for that show.

While on the subject of Veronica Mars….did you know that the actor who played her boyfriend (Logan?) now has a role in the T.V. series Moonlight? He plays the vampire friend to the male lead actor. I don’t know if you watch the show or not, but there it is. You asked me if I had heard of the book by Colette Gale. You betcha. It somehow found its way into my hands while I was in Borders one day. I felt like I had won the lottery, considering my fetish for all things Phantom. Thanks for bringing it to my attention anyway.

  14. Patricia says:

Boy did I get played or what? I wish I could have seen your face. I’m really pleased about that bit of information you slipped me though. Is it really a secret? I need to know so I won’t accidentally blab. I can make like a clam when the occasion calls for it. Gee, where is everyone? I don’t see any new posts here. Well, the original topic WAS ringtones. I feel like I’ve kinda run off the rails here.

  15. Patricia says:

Since you shared with me, I feel like I should come clean about something. I haven’t actually read Unmasqued yet. Oh good, I didn’t get hit by lightening for that one. That’s a good sign. I’ll make sure it’s the next one I read though. You wouldn’t believe the pile of books I have waiting to be read. I bounce around between alot of authors. Is it o.k. to mention names? You’ll have to advise me on that one.
