Quantum WTF?

Okay, I'm a hot-blooded American girl and I love to ogle Daniel Craig as much as any of us….but when I can't understand–let alone remember–the name of his new action flick, there's a problem.

Quantum of Solace?

I had to look it up three times before I remembered it. And I'm still having problems. WTF? It sounds like a frigging Steven Hawking movie, or something European with subtitles…not a Bond flick. Puh-leeeese.

Ah well…here's some prettiness to take away the sting.

And, oh! I'm hearing of The Bleeding Dusk sightings out and about. Already!

If you see it, I'd love to hear about where and when….but if you can stand it, can you wait to buy it until release week? Feb 5-11? Pretty please?

Those first-week sales are uber-important to us lowly new authors.

Of course, if you really can't stand to wait…go for it!

That is a weird title for a movie — doesn’t make much sense to my feeble brain.

I’m planning on buying THE BLEEDING DUSK in the bookstore, when it comes out, Colleen. The last one, I ordered on Amazon and they held it in order to ship it with something else I had purchased. I was quite annoyed! Not this time!

  2. Andrea says:

I scratched my head when I heard that Bond title, too. Weird.

I will be picking up my copy of TBD either Feb. 5 or 6 and not a moment before. ;) I can’t wait!!

  3. Kristin says:

It’s Feb. 5th when the store opens before going to work…hope I make it to work!!! :)

  4. MaryKate says:

They did look beautiful on the shelf, though Colleen! It’s a nice thick book, which makes all of us happy.

Can’t wait to read it, this one’s gonna be on the NY Times list, I know it!

  5. Cory says:

No wonder I was confused when I saw your TBD at the bookstore. I didn’t think it was supposed to be out yet. I’ll wait to pick it up though!

    And I’m with y’all, that really doesn’t sound like a Bond movie…

  6. wendy roberts says:

I haven’t actually seen Dusk but I did ask at my local store and they said they they have it tucked away in the back waiting to be shelved. I’mso excited about this book! :)

Just FYI, I just got this e-mail from Amazon:

As someone who has purchased or rated books from the Gardella Vampire Chronicles series, you might like to know that The Bleeding Dusk: The Gardella Vampire Chronicles will be released on February 5, 2008.

  8. Michele says:

Quantum of Solace is the title of an Ian Fleming short story so hard-core Bond fans are pleased with this, and Fleming’s description of the title is intresting. But even Daniel Craig admitted that it doesn’t roll off the tongue easily though he says it’s grown on him.

  9. MLS859 (Lynn) says:

Was just in Borders — and there it was, in all its glory! I held myself back and did not purchase it — but it was like a stake through my heart…

  10. Deneishia says:

ah yes. Mr. Bond…Yum Thanks for the pick

RE: the book! My store (and I do work for Borders) is a big stickler we as an individual establishment don’t even take them out of the box until opening week! UGH I hate it when they do that! it is such a slap in the face but we have too many authors that work in our store we are very big on opening week sales and reports to the lists….ok…off soap box now.

  11. Janet says:

yes, he’s quite a looker! I’m SO looking forward to the new book!

  12. Colleen says:

Ah, Michele! Thank you for clearing that up. I didn’t know that about it being the title of a Fleming short story–I do feel better now, even if it is a mouthful.

I wonder if the plot is based on the short story, or if they just borrowed the title.

  13. L Rosario says:

hahahaha- I thought exactly the same thing when I read the title name of the new James Bond movie. I looked at it…looked at it again and then went “huh? WTF??”
I guess it makes a bit more sense knowing it’s a title from a Fleming short, but still…
