Happy Friday! My kids (and I) are delighted that it's a snow day today here in Michigan!
(The only bad thing is instead of one phone call, we got two, within twenty minutes of the other….the second just as I was falling back to sleep at 6:15…to let us know school was canceled. One would have been enough.)
Anyway, big snowstorm=no school, fire in the fireplace, and oooh! reading a good book!
But, for those of you who aren't snowbound (or even if you are), you simply must dash over to the Manuscript Mavens blog. TODAY. NOW.
They are hosting a Create Your Own Adventure story from now until Valentine's Day, and it's going to be a lot of fun. Plus, prizes! (including Gardella books!)
Each day, an author will write chapter in this create your own story epistle and end with four options for the story line. Blog commenters will vote on the way they want the story to go, and the next day, a different author will post the next episode.
And guess which author was asked to kick it off? Moi. So head on over and check it out. Lots of fun. You have to vote by 7pm EST so the next victim author has time to write the chapter overnight.
(I was really glad I got to be the one who started it, even though all they told me was to make it contemporary, and to try and relate it to Valentine's Day.) (Heh.)
So go there now.
And….now…the winner of the Will He or Won't He? contest. Lots of great entries, and wonderful feedback. I'm glad the book's already written (and the fourth one too!) so I wouldn't be influenced by all your ideas!
Anyway, the winner, who will be the recipient of an Advance Review Copy of When Twilight Burns (sometime early this summer, when I get them) is….drumroll please….
MICHELLE FRY!
Congrats, Michelle! I've already emailed you, but if you don't get it for some reason, you can catch me at books at colleengleason dot com.
Thank you ALL for participating and if you're still hoping for a chance to win When Twilight Burns early, you can head over to Carl V's, where he's hosting another contest right now!
Are you snowed in too? What are you going to do today?

I wish I was snowed in today. That would be divine. As it was I acted like I was going to be snowed in today and stayed up late and read a 250 page novel straight through…not something I often do. Today I am full of residual excitement from the read and am also exhausted! I will relax vicariously through you and your kids.

Nope, we did have some school closings today due to ice (my best friend’s husband got the day off, and boy is she jealous/pissed). But it’s dark and rainy and generally icky here today. I’d love to be home reading.
What book are you reading now Colleen? I’m reading BLOOD BOUND by Patricia Briggs. Vivi Anna recommended the series to me, and I love it so far.

Snowed in?! Yuck! My Florida brain does not compute!!!
Actually, I’ve got family in your neck of the woods, and school got canceled for them yesterday b/c the wind chill was 30 below or some nonsense. Crazycakes!
Awesome job kicking off the Maven Valentine CYOA, Colleen! Love the story already! =)

We were snowed in on Tues and Wed. First time in 11 yrs we’ve had school closures 2 days in a row because of snow in our district. Normally it rains away. It’s supposed to snow again tonight.
Congrats to Michelle Fry (the wrong Michelle I see
but congratulations anyway LOL)

I wish we would get snowed in, but we rarely even get snow where I live, much less enough to cancel school.
Loved your start to the CYOA story. It was a great beginning!

Congrats Michelle!
Oh, my daughter’s college classes were canceled on Wed. We had the bad winds here on the east, at one point, to 81 mph! Made the house shake. Then yesterday was clear and tonight is snowy. I used to work at a school so I loved the snow days too having off. But didn’t like when the kids didn’t have to go but the teachers did. I never knew what to do with my kids and wondered why it was safe for me to be in the weather!
