Well, at least the sun is shining!
The snow is melting. We saw a robin last week.
Even though we got five inches of snow on Friday, I do believe, I really do, that spring is here. Well, almost here.
So what's the first thing you do when you feel like spring has finally arrived?
Spring cleaning?
Your taxes?
Plant seedlings?
Go out and finish that fall cleanup you started?
Buy a potted tulip plant?
Tell, tell, tell!

The second installment of the Gardella Vampire Chronicles takes Victoria to Venice and Rome.

Hi Colleen - I was doing some news gathering for the Urban Fantasy blog I contribute to and I found your blog and figured out your are from the Detroit area as well.
Your blog is beautiful, btw.
Best of luck. I just wanted to say hello to a fellow Detroiter.

I love the cold weather so much (and don’t get enough in the deep south) that I’m always faintly disappointed when I see the first robin!

Spring’s still to come here in Italy: we got lots of cold wind and chilly rain, caught just a glimpse of sun in the last few days. Groan…I usually go hunting some delicious herbs with my cats when spring comes, but no way I’m doing it under a downpour!!

I spend plenty of time looking at my yard and imagine all the wonderful possibilities. Flowers and decks and summer nights with friends around the fire pit (that doesn’t exist at the time…more imagining.) then I walk back in the house knowing it will probably not happen because the interior of the house is in shambles. Oh and I get very excited about being able to walk outside barefoot at night.

Hi Lisa! Big news coming from Detroit today, huh? Nice to meet you!!
Lynn. I love you, but…bite your tongue.
Mazoku…I love fresh herbs too. What are your favorites?
Amanda…me too. I always get “nursery fever” around this time, and start planning how much money, er, I mean, how many plants I’m going to buy at the nursery to brighten up the yard.
We can’t plant anything that’s not hardy before Memorial Day in Michigan, so I have a long time to dream and plan.

I open all the windows and air out the house. Awww… it smells so good!

The grass is always greener…or maybe I should say the snow is always whiter…

Yeah, the snow is always whiter…we got 17 inches on Friday - UGH!!! I love to open the windows and let the fresh air in. The hubby is already laying out his plans for the yard…I’m trying to talk him into not buying any new plants, but just getting transplants from friends and save a bunch of money…it’s a good thought anyway!

The news is indeed a spectacle today. A long time coming. I just hope justice prevails despite the media spectacle.
I wish I had known sooner about your appearance tomorrow. I would like to come to a signing and maybe take some pictures or something for Urban Fantasy Land. Got to support Detroit peeps whenever possible. I was so tickled to find out you were from here.

In this period I go hunting “carletti” (Silene inflata) and “bruscandoli” (Humulus lupulus, hop): there’s a recipe typical of north-eastern Italy to make a wonderful risotto with them, but you can find them only in early spring. *sigh* And they’re quite hard to find, especially the hop, since they grow near ditch’s banks, among brambles. Lucky me my granny taught me how to recognize them and find them, eheheh

Sorry, late to the party, but thought I’d still share… I like to go out and play or watch bal (i.e., softball, baseball, etc.) and listen to music really loud while outside or driving in my car with the windows down!
In fact, right now I’m listening to “Walk of Life” by Dire Straits - perfect baseball and springtime/summer song!
