Dante = Maximilian

So I'm at the Sex and the City movie on Friday night, sitting next to a woman who has read my books (not a close friend, and a woman who doesn't read romance novels very often at all–but she's read mine I'm delighted to say), and we're enjoying the movie.

And then we see Samantha's new neighbor, Dante the surfer guy. OMGHAWT. (And boy do we see allllll of him.) And Donna leans over to me immediately and says, "That's Maximilian." Just like that.

I thought that was pretty cool that she had Max on her mind!

So, there you have it. Dante (who's played by Gilles Marini; you can find pics here because I can't find any linkable ones on the web) is Max.

And Jason Lewis, whose hair is longer and wavier in the movie, is definitely Sebastian.

Anyway. I loved the movie. Am waiting for more pictures; will post when I get them. We were written up in the paper–there were 54 of us! (This is the picture from the paper.)

I looooved the Brooklyn Bridge scene. Cried about three/four times throughout. Thought Charlotte's big thing was pretty anticlimactic. And the wedding gown montage was a thing of beauty. Incredible. Fell in love with Mr. Big all over again.

Pretty much a great night.

You?

Never watched the show and have absolutely no desire to see the movie but I did go over to the IMDB for a look see and I’d have to agree. He’s extremely handsome and looks like he could carry off Max quite well.

Hey CJ! Thanks for coming by. The gal I was sitting next to hadn’t ever watched the TV show, but really enjoyed the movie anyway. It’s a total chick flick, but they do a great job of giving you all the background you need.

  3. Janet says:

Jason Lewis as Sebastian, yes!!! I liked the movie…but was appalled when they where “shocked” that Samantha had gotten “fat”. Unnecessary.

Snuck in to see Iron Man afterwards, great movie!

I have to admidt that i’ve never seen SaTC and won’t go see the movie, I did check out Gilles Marini. He’s not at all like I picture Max.

Jason Lewis would make an oksy Sebastian, looks wise anyway. I think that the voice needs work though :)

  5. Lynn Irwin Stewart says:

    Nope, that’s not Max!!

I watched SATC all the time and, for awhile, had a correspondence with Cindy Chupack (one of the writers — not because of SATC but because of MADIGAN MEN — an ABC show starring Gabriel Byrne) but I probably won’t see the movie in the theater (I’ve mentioned before I seldom see anything at the theater). I’ll wait for it to come on TV and I’ll TiVo it.

  6. Christine d'Abo says:

I’ve never seen Sex in the City, but that actor really does look like my mental picture of Max. Love Max…

  7. Colleen says:

LOL LindaK and Lynn….you just picture whoever you want as Max. Or Sebastian. :-)
Janet, I forgot to mention that part! About Samantha getting “fat”…that was ridiculous. I mean, if that’s fat, then I’m obese for crying out loud. As if.

Christine, you might enjoy the movie. It’s a bit predictable but lots of fun and very witty.

I said to a friend of mine walking out of the movie last night, “Dante’s mom must be REALLY proud.” As a pom pom carrying member of Team Max, SO good to have a face to go with the wonder that is Max. And what a face it is.

I loved the movie. It was like fashion porn. So fabulous!

  9. Andrea says:

Nope, he’s not Max to me either. Richard Armitage became Max in my eyes ever since someone mentioned it here. ;)
Glad y’all had a great time, Colleen!

  10. Mel-O-Drama says:

Like you, I cried at least 3 times. The Brooklyn Bridge scene was the best. The scene between Carrie and Big at the Limo was the most heartwrenching scene ever. The “coloring” scene was true Sex and teh City. I loved how each character got their full story and I was emotionally satisfied in the end, despite a few nits. (we all have our opinions, eh?)

I’ll definitely see it again…and btw, Jason Lewis was always my pick as Sebastian, which is exactly why I am (and will always be) in Camp Sebastian. LOL

  11. MaryKate says:

Just ’cause, you know, I’m s’posed to be working. Here is the “actor” who played Dante’s website.

    Mmmm, pretty.

  12. Jane says:

Gilles is hot, but I like Andrea’s choice of Richard Armitage as Max.

  13. Lynn Irwin Stewart says:

I’ll take complete credit for Richard Armitage…thank you very much!! LOL!

  14. Andrea says:

    Yes! Thank you, Lynn!
