That's me. I'm begging everyone I know for a copy of The Laughter of Dead Kings by Elizabeth Peters.
I'm desperate to get an advance copy of it.
If I were a guy, I'd give my left nut (or right one, 'cause, after all, it really doesn't matter, does it?) for it.
Since I'm me, I'd give a copy of When Twilight Burns and a copy of As Shadows Fade for an ARC of Dead Kings.
As many of you know, the Vicky Bliss books are my all-time favorites. Trojan Gold and Night Train to Memphis are my between-book comfort reads. There are only five Vicky Bliss books, and the last one came out seven years ago.
I've been waiting seven years to see if Peters was going to write another one about Vicky and John Smythe and Schmidt…and then when I found out there was a new book coming out, I was elated.
And then frightened.
I mean, Night Train to Memphis (the last one) was just so brilliant, so wonderful…I was afraid Peters wouldn't be able to do justice to another one. I mean, the storyline, the way the book ended…what could she do next?
But now I'm starting to see reviews. Super-duper positive reviews, and now I'm dying to get my hands on it. So for any of you reviewer-type people who might be lurking around out there, or who know any reviewer-type people…I'm begging for a copy.
Please and thank you.

Email the publisher’s PR department and tell them you’ll blog the book after you read it, then ask for an advance copy. It couldn’t hurt.

Well, I am obviously no help to you…but at least I know that you know how I feel being a ridiculous fangirl of yours desperate for WTB’s!!!

Curious about the “between-book comfort reads” comment.
Do you abstain from reading when you’re in the midst of conjuring up one of your own tales?
If yes, why?

Jaci, that’s a good idea! I’ll give that a try if nothing else works.
Kristin…LOL. But it’s been SEVEN YEARS. And I thought the series was over…just the way she ended it. So now I’m alternately excited and terrified. LOL.
Outburst…I do read while I’m writing, in little spurts, but definitely nothing in my own genre (ie, vampire novels). (Right now I’m reading Suzanne Brockmann).
But when I finish a book, lots of times I relax and let the brain uncurl from the last furious days of writing by reading a comfort read.
A comfort read is something that I know so well that I know I won’t be disappointed. It’s a way to relax.

Could you ask for me too??

Seriously, do ask the Publisher. Believe it or not, many, many of we lowly bloggers score books that way.
Who publishes it? I’ll see if I don’t have a contact at one of the publishing houses. If I don’t, Katiebabs will for sure. She has no qualms whatsoever about asking for ARCs. She’s been begging around the publishing industry lately for a copy of Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer, which is like a Harry Potter book. No one not named “Meyer” is getting one.

I got your back. And I don’t even have to know if Victoria picks Sebastian like she should. Right MK?
*muwahahaa*
I would give my soul for Breaking Dawn!! seriously.

Ermmm, No.
*waves Team Max pom poms*
I would never betray Max by rooting for Sebastian.

GO SEBASTIAN!!
