So, for those of you who have been hanging around here for awhile, you know that rather than in January, I make my New Year’s Resolutions in September. Just about the time the kids get on the bus for their first day of school.

(*the crowd goes wild* *Colleen dances about the house*)

Er…anyway, so here it is…a new year, a new outlook. All of the weight I lost over the summer miraculously reappeared in the last few weeks (starting with the book tour in Chicago and ending with the Labor Day feast on Monday. Can you say…ugh?)

So here are my resolutions for the 2008-2009 School Year:

1. Back to vigilance in my diet. Eat more “brain foods” and lose the extra poundage.

2. Walk or somehow exercise every day. Best time is after the kids get on the bus. Mr. Frodo will appreciate a spin around the block, I believe.

3. Be more effective in my work. Actually start writing before 4:00 (when the kids get off the bus). Not a very effective use of time.

4. Go back to writing personal notes to friends and family on Sundays. (I used to write one or two every Sunday, and that has fallen by the wayside.)

5. Visit my friends’ blogs more regularly. *waves to Carl* *waves to Bookfool* *waves to Zeek* *waves to everyone*

6. Cut the number of meals I eat out at restaurants in half.

I think that’s enough.

So…you? Is this the time of year that you make resolutions? What are they?

  1. Janet says:

I actually did make a resolution and started it yesterday…I’ll let you know next week if it worked or not!

  2. katiebabs says:

I want to write more and gain the courage to show others my work so I can handle more criticism.
And of course to lay off the caffine!

  3. Mel-O-Drama says:

    4. Go back to writing personal notes to friends and family on Sundays.

I love this one. I think I shall steal it for myself.

  4. Kristin says:

Can’t say I’ve made any real resolutions, but after just one day of school and just that precious little bit of alone time between the kids going to school and my going to work…I feel somewhat more sane already!!! :) About the only thing I’ll do is try to keep things a bit more structured now that they’re back in school…and I’m starting with my reading! That seems just so all about me…oh well ;), the more I read and enjoy myself the happier I am!!! :)

I’m feeling out my coworkers as to how they feel about supporting my reading habits in the name of CF, and next I’ll hit up family and friends and even a neighbor or two. I’m really excited to kick up my reading(and FINALLY make a dent in my TBR pile!)and hopefully help out Pirate Boy and others with a little monetary support! :)

Hey, 1,562 words down only 28,438 to go!!! :) You’re off to a great start! Walking the puppy in the fall should be lovely…that is until winter comes. Good luck with your resolutions!!! :) If I were to make a resolution I suppose it would have to do with keeping the house cleaner…don’t really want to go there, so I’m going to get another chapter of Delicious in before going to work instead(which I am really enjoying by the way)!

    Have a great day! :)

    Have a great day! :)

  5. Kristin says:

Guess I just wanted to be sure you were wished a great day…oops! :)

  6. Colleen says:

Janet, I can’t wait to hear about it! Do let me know!

Katie, go for it! Just write…and then let the rest follow. Take it one step at a time.

Mel, thanks again for your donation and support! I really enjoyed when I was in the mode of writing little notes on Sundays…it just seemed like the right day to do it. And people always enjoyed them–we get so few letters in the mail nowadays. Let me know how it goes.

Kristin, thank you so much for your support! I appreciate anything you can do–and so does Pirate Boy.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the reads! It’s always nice to have an excuse to read more, huh?

  7. Bobbi says:

“Go back to writing personal notes to friends and family on Sundays.” What a great resolution!

“Cut the number of meals I eat out at restaurants in half.” I’m doing a Discretionary Eating Challenge - it started in August, but I’m continuing through September. It has helped me curb my eating and stopped me from eating out!

  8. Kaitlin says:

    Oh, good ones!

    Mine would be:

    1. Continue to lose weight
    2. Actually write the book that’s been staring me in the face all this time.
    3. Be happy with who I am.
    4. This one is almost impossible, but it’s to buy my own place.

  9. Sarah says:

    Mine would have to be:

Lose weight..still got a bit of pregnancy weight on me.

Write more when I can…and update my journal - personal journal.

Read more when I can too.
