*headdesk*

I hate being a source of amusement to my trés cool techno-geek brother…he never lets me live it down.

(He still loves to tell the story of how I tried to "burn him up" in his bassinet when I was five. And he was a newborn baby. I thought he was cold! I moved a little space heater rightnext to his bassinet. And it started to smoke. Oops.)

But I did it again on Saturday morning.

See, if I have any computer problems, I call him. He's brilliant when it comes to anything electronic and I take full advantage of it.

So I turn on my computer. Er, I try to turn it on. My year-old iMax (damn. Why do I always do that?), I mean iMac. Nothing happens. Nothing.

I try and try and try. Nothing. Not even a whir. Panicked, oh panicked! I call him.

He says, "Is it plugged in?"

"Yes of course it's plugged in."

"How about the power strip? Is it turned on?"

"Yes of course–oh. Oops." I turn on the powerstrip that somehow got turned off overnight ('cause it was working before I went to bed, yanno) and the printers and computer whirr to life.

He actually managed not to snicker before I hung up the phone.

Sigh. I love my brother.

Being without Internet is…

…so not fun!

But I'm baaaack. Had a little problem with my DSL modem for the last 24 hours, but it's fixed now, thanks to a lovely AT&T tech gal who came out and fixed me up.

And, oh, just watched a classic FRIENDS episode this morning on while on the elliptical (see, Carl, I'm still working on the other RIP challenge)–"The One With the Videotape."

It's the one where Rachel's just told Ross she's pg with his baby, and they get to arguing about who came on to whom….and it turned out he had accidentally videotaped the whole encounter. It's the one with the "European story" and the way the whole plot comes together is just perfect. It's really perfect.

It's one of the best episodes–it's tight, but you don't realize it until the end; the lines are fabulous, and David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston really show off their talent, especially at the end when they're watching the whole tape.

Laughed my butt off and almost took a spill off the ol' elliptical.

So what's your fave FRIENDS episode?

Cool. I want one.

Microsoft unveiled a new computer prototype today, and I love it! It looks like a coffee table, and instead of using a mouse or keyboard, you move your hands over the screen to "grab" instead of click and drag.

And apparently, you use a pen-type of instrument to write, instead of on a keyboard. Now that might have serious consequences for my creativity (I seem to only be able to write from brain to keyboard), but I'm wiling to try.

Would you?

So…the fifth "space tourist" is up there now, at the space station.

So if you had the money…and could spare it…would you go? Would you go to space?

I don't believe I would. Not quiiiiite yet.  You?

Didja miss me? and Grammys Question

Sheesh. Blog was down most of Sunday and all of Monday–and I couldn't even blame Blogger this time. It was my host's server and I've been saying bad words about it all day.

I'm blogging at Muse/News too, and climbed on my soapbox again. Darn it.

I taped the Grammys so I could watch my fantasy-guy Sting and the boys reunite, but I don't want to watch the whole darn thing. Can someone tell me whereabouts in the show they perform?

ETA: And WOOOT! on the announcement that they're going to tour again! (But you knew that was coming.)
