Dante = Maximilian

So I'm at the Sex and the City movie on Friday night, sitting next to a woman who has read my books (not a close friend, and a woman who doesn't read romance novels very often at all–but she's read mine I'm delighted to say), and we're enjoying the movie.

And then we see Samantha's new neighbor, Dante the surfer guy. OMGHAWT. (And boy do we see allllll of him.) And Donna leans over to me immediately and says, "That's Maximilian." Just like that.

I thought that was pretty cool that she had Max on her mind!

So, there you have it. Dante (who's played by Gilles Marini; you can find pics here because I can't find any linkable ones on the web) is Max.

And Jason Lewis, whose hair is longer and wavier in the movie, is definitely Sebastian.

Anyway. I loved the movie. Am waiting for more pictures; will post when I get them. We were written up in the paper–there were 54 of us! (This is the picture from the paper.)

I looooved the Brooklyn Bridge scene. Cried about three/four times throughout. Thought Charlotte's big thing was pretty anticlimactic. And the wedding gown montage was a thing of beauty. Incredible. Fell in love with Mr. Big all over again.

Pretty much a great night.

You?

Am all over this one. (Coming this September)

Have you see this? I hadn't heard about it before now, but wow. Am all over it.

Lacking any Jimmy Choos or Blahnicks, I may be underdressed…

…at the Sex and the City party I've been invited to tonight.

Yes indeed…a gal invited me to what sounds like a blast of an event, and I've been told to dress Carrie Bradshaw style. Nevertheless, I'm going to be attending, sans any big-name fashion statement. I will dress up, however, as I have the perfect gown and some decent shoes.

Here's the itinerary for this party:

*Arrive at Renee's house for martinis, to be served by her very own cabana boys husband and his friends. (Renee is a fabulous cook.)

* A coach limo or some sort of transpo will pick up the fifty(!!) of us and drive us to the local movie theater for the show. (Tickets have been prepurchased.)

* After the show, we'll be taken to the local martini bar for our own private party with special martinis made just for us.

*After a few drinks at the bar, we shall be returned to Renee's house for more martinis (yikes), fabulous hors d'oeuvres and Sex and the City trivia games, complete with prizes. I'm hoping to win Mr. Big, myself.

Sounds like fun, doesn't it? If I can, I'll post pics.

Anyone else going to see that this weekend? With girlfriends or not? (I had to disinvite Music Man from the party tonight; he wanted to come, but it's a girls only thing.)

ETA: Music Man happened to read this and he wanted me to mention that I already have "Mr. Big."

*snort*

Indy, we hardly knew ya.

Well, that's not true. It just seems so sad that it's all over.

As you might have guessed, I saw the new Indiana Jones flick over the weekend. I enjoyed it for what it was–a visit with Indy and Co, despite the predictability of the plot and interminable action scenes.

Loved the line he said to Marion when he admitted all the other women in his life, "But they weren't you." Okay, yeah, a bit cheesy, not quite up there with "I love you." "I know."

But it warmed my heart and my Music Man loved the line too. (I guess I am married to a romantic.)

Anyway, I enjoyed it. And now I feel sad that the franchise is over. Maybe Mutt will take over (Mutt??) with a new series, but I dunno.

I feel sort of like I felt when I finished the last of the Victoria Gardella books. It's over! Wahh!

So how about you? Did you see it? What did you think? Did Cate Blanchett's Russian accent make you crack up?

Depp in an elevator.

So last week, my stepdad says, "Hey, guess who I rode in an elevator with this week."

"Who?" I inquire. "Wait, first remind me where you were." (He travels for work sometimes.)

"Madison."

"Hmmm. Who?"

"Johnny Depp."

"What?!?!"  was my first reaction. Then it was, "No way. In Madison? Johnny Depp? Are you sure?"

"Yes. He was surrounded by all these big bodyguards."

"Hm. No way, it's the Cannes Film Fest. He's in Cannes, not Madison."

Well, I should have known better, 'cause my stepdad is brilliant with celebrity sightings. I mean, he sees people all the time. He rode on an airplane with Boy George, and he's met (and recognized) numerous other celebs over the years.

So the next day, I did a Google, just to see if there was any chance he was right. And damn and blast if Johnny Depp isn't involved in a film that's being shot in Madison, Wisconsin, right now! He was supposed to be there in early May, so it's likely it was indeed Mr. (or should I say Monsieur?) Depp who rode, along with his bodyguards, in the elevator with my stepdad.

Sheesh.

So, do you have any celebrity sightings to report? Alas, my only experience was not getting to see The Fahbs at Romantic Times, and ogling Adrian Paul for a moment from a doorway.

I'm pathetic.

Oh, wait! I lied! I forgot. When Music Man and I were on our honeymoon, we spent two nights in this posh hotel/spa in Sonoma and at dinner we sat next to Jessica Whatshername (crap) (played the wife in Rob Roy, and the love interest in Tootsie) oh, yeah, Lange, and Sam Shepherd.

So I guess I'm not as pathetic as I thought.

Whew.
