I’m in the Final Four!

Woohoo hoo!

For those of you who don't frequent Smart Bitches or Dear Author, you may not be aware of a totally different type of March Madness battle that's been raging over the last few weeks.

But, yes, those snarky, witty, sharp gals over at SB and DA created their own March Madness contest for books released in 2007…and The Rest Falls Away was one of the original 64. Which alone was an amazing honor.

But what's even more amazing is that, in true dark-horse fashion (SB Sarah's words, not mine), Rest has made it to the Final Four!

Thus, I've been awarded this fabulous braggy graphic and will be receiving a pink ostrich feather pen. A real one, perfectly created for writing romance novels.

Can't you just see me, sitting in my lovely red velvet boudoir, penning long, slushy love scenes with such an instrument?

So, the voting for the Final Four will be on Saturday this weekend. So you might want to pop by either Smart Bitches or Dear Author and vote for your favorite title in what's sure to be the tightest contest yet.

News of a singular kind.

My hands are shaking as I type this (forgive typos, please!)…big news, big, big news!

I got a call from my agent yesterday letting me know that a major Hollywood production company is interested in making a movie about the Gardellas!

Okay, okay. Deep breath. *squee*

(Sorry.)

They want to do a movie spanning all five books, which is cool, because everything would then be wrapped up at the end.

The only thing is, there are a couple of tweaks they want me to incorporate into the fifth book so that the story works for them.

Did I hesitate?

Uh, would you?

I should say not.

I mean, these were plot changes I wasn't anticipating making, but I think they could work.

One thing they really pushed for was putting Max and Sebastian together. At first I wasn't sure, but then I got to thinking…well that could be pretty hot.

I never recognized the undercurrents between them, but apparently they're there. It works for me…all that male muscle and flesh…mmhmmm. All that animosity and hatred boiling beneath the surface could really erupt into something fabulous.

And of course that would leave Victoria to find solace somewhere else. There's always Kritanu, of course…but even though he's much older than she is, I just couldn't see them together. He's more like a father to her.

Then I hit on it. Phillip. I could bring him back–because, you know, he didn't poof when Victoria staked him (did you catch that? Huh? I know some of you did…).

And now that she's got some of Beauregard in her…well, it would be a match made in heaven…a la Angel. Two vampires fighting crime, side by side.

I mean, if Angel can fight crime, so can Victoria.

And the best part of that is, then she can live forever…and I can take the Gardellas to a contemporary setting for my next series.

Do you love it, or do you love it?????

More news when I have it, but do start thinking about casting. I know, I know, I won't have any say in the casting…but one can dream, can't one?

New stuff.

Just wanted to point out a few updates to the site and blog.

First, please note to the right, there, in the middle column of the blog, a handy-dandy link where you can add your email address to get A-U-T-O-matic updates sent to you every time I post here on For All the World To See. Pretty handy, huh?

Never miss another fascinating, scintillating, witty blog post again!

Second, for those of you champing at the bit…we now have an excerpt and sneak peek up on the site for When Twilight Burns…just click on "Books" above and you'll find that gorgeous book cover linking to its very own book page. Try not to drool on the keyboard, gals.

Aw, hell…you can just click here and I'll take you directly to the page. Sheesh.

Thirdly…well, there is no thirdly. I lied.

In other news, we've recovered from our trip to the museum on Thursday. Thank you for all of your condolences, and Cheryl, I'm glad it was us not you! Can't believe you were down there too!

Speaking of Prince (yes, yes, I was…did you catch it?)…what do you think of The Artist Formerly Known As? Favorite track? Album? Did you like Purple Rain (the movie)?

Favorite track: Kiss

Album: 1999

Movie: At the time, yes. Haven't seen it since, though.

How about an '80s earworm to start the week?

Just for fun.

Am taking the kids to a museum today, so won't be around much.

We're probably going to see an iMax movie too, which I love (except that since I'm prone to motion sickness…well, sometimes it doesn't go over well with my tummy).

Thought I'd post a few pics from a recent booksigning at the Paperback Outlet in Warren Michigan. These gals are phenomenal–Annie and Gay, the owners. They're clowns too, for real, and they put on great signings.

In fact, the store is up for Romantic Times Bookstore of the Year…and I'm still hoping they'll get good news and be there in Pittsburgh for the RT Convention.

Anyway, some pics from the signing.

(Yes, my eyes are closed. That happens about 50% of the time…so if we ever have the chance to meet and we get a picture taken, make sure you check to see if the eyes were shut. Sigh.)

Are you missing Phillip?

The poor marquess. Sigh.

Several of you have expressed your sadness that the Marquess of Rockley hasn't graced the pages of the Gardella books for awhile. (It's kind of imposssible, at this point, you know.)

Well, besides the fact that a Marquess of Rockley does make an appearance in When Twilight Burns, I'm happy to tell you that the original marquess also appears in a short story that will be included in The Mammoth Book of Vampire Romance, to be released in the UK in June…and the US sometime in the next year.

The short story takes place at a ball that occurred during The Rest Falls Away, so you're sure to see Phillip, Max, and Sebastian…as well as Lady Melly and Verbena before, as my friend Tammy put it, they got all angsty with each other. LOL.

Since springtime makes me feel generous, I thought I'd give away a few copies of the short story to my regular blog readers.

So….anyone who emails me before Wednesday midnight EST at blog at colleengleason dot com with I MISS PHILLIP! in the subject line will receive a copy of the short story by email.

Fair enough? All right. Ready, set, GO!
