Need I say more?

So. We’ve been with this franchise for ten years now. We got to watch them grow up! Are you as obsessed as I am? (Of course you are.)

As it winds down, what are your:

favorite scenes/memories from the movies?
favorite quotes?
biggest disappointment?

For me, some of my favorite scenes were in The Half-Blood Prince–the scenes with Ron and Hermione dealing with their feelings for each other (or not dealing, as in the case with Won-won and Lavender *snicker*).

I also love it when Hermione says, in the first movie, “I’m going to bed before either of you come up with another idea of getting us killed. Or worse–expelled.” And then Ron says, “She needs to sort out her priorities.”

I also love in HP7pt1 where Ron says, “Always the tone of surprise,” even as he puts his arm around Hermione (this after she’s surprised that he did something right).

My two biggest disappointments were the casting of Bonnie Wright as Ginny–she never has worked for me, and still doesn’t, unfortunately–and also The Order of the Phoenix movie. It was too short and skimmed too much. The same could be said for Half-Blood Prince, but I loved that book and movie so much anyway.

Okay, your turn. Tell me!

I agree with your favorite quotes. I don’t like the casting of Bonnie Wright either. I didn’t like the changes in DH pt 1. I was disappointed they didn’t include the invisibility cloak in the movie as much as the book. Since it’s one of the Deathly Hallows it should be included more scenes. I’m wondering if the movie made sense to those who haven’t read the book.
Unforgettable scene is Goblet of Fire – the dragon chasing Harry. I thought the special effects were great!

@Jeanette I’m not as familiar with the changes in Pt1, but already from the trailer, I see some changes to Pt2. But I’m okay with it if JKR is, and obviously she is.

I just don’t think Bonnie Wright is as attractive as Ginny is described in the books. Obviously, she was cast at a young age and who knows what someone will look like as they age…but it’s mentioned over and over how attractive she is, and how her personality attracts the guys, and I just don’t see that in Bonnie Wright…unfortunately.

Now Neville….he’s turned into quite the hottie.

I was disappointed in Half-Blood Prince, actually. I re-read the book right before seeing the movie to refresh my memory–mistake. I understand directors adding/subtracting things from books for the screen (True Blood for HBO is a good example–they flush out the Lafayette character & have Eric, not Bill, kill Longshadow–but these changes were cool), but effects like the burning of the Weasley’s house in HBP were disappointing. Did not happen in the book. What was the point? Haven’t seen DH pt. 1 yet for that reason. Let us know how pt. 2 is…

Colleen, I hope you and your family have a wonderful time at tonight’s showing. Are you going in costume? I own all the movies except this one of course. One day, I’m going to have a marathon, so I will have them forever to watch the grow and change as time passes by.

    Peace and love,
    Paula R.

I also think that the Order of the Phoenix was way to short. In DH1 only two things really bothered me. One was that Voldemort seemed way too nice. Was it just me? The other part was the whole Grimald Place with Kreacher. I would have liked to see the movie go deeper because I think it was an awesome transformation and newly found respect. But I’m super excited. Midnight show tonight!!!

I love Harry Potter. I love the flow of the story and the punch line you have mentioned. I understand why many of us love the story.
